Our Doctor & Staff

Dr. Dennis Bales

Dr. Bales received his undergraduate B.S. in Optometry in 1973 and OD in 1975 from UC Berkley. He practiced in Santa Barbara before taking over his current practice in 1988 in Solvang.

A current member of American Optometric Association, California OA and Tri County OA, and also a member of the Vision Source, a international group of Optometrists who share common goals of professional practice.

Dr. Bales is locally involved with the Solvang Breakfast Rotary, and a Board member of the Solvang Theaterfest. In his spare time he likes traveling, hiking and biking.

Skip

Skip has been in the business for 30 years and a member of Dr. Bales' staff for 5 years as a Medical Board of California licensed Spectacle Lens Dispenser. His duties include assisting patients in selecting frames and lenses best suited for their needs.

On a personal note, Skip has lived locally for 25 years and is married with 3 grown children and 4 grandchildren, who also live locally. Besides his family and work, Skip's other passion is his golf game.

Maria

Maria has been a member of Dr. Bales' staff since 2004 working the front desk, making appointments, invoicing, billing and assisting the patients any way she can.

Maria has two children who enjoy visiting the park and spending time outdoors.

Marci

Marci has been a member of Dr. Bales' staff since 2007 working the front desk, answering the phones, doing the office accounts receivables and assisting the patients when they arrive.

Born and raised in the valley she enjoys anything to do with the outdoor, including, but not limited to, hiking, biking and barbequing. Marci is also an amateur radio operator.

Iris

Iris has been an Optometric Tech for Dr. Bales since 2002. She enjoys working with patients and assisting Dr. Bales with taking patients' history, fundus photography, visual fields, contact lens training, ordering and dispensing.

Born and raised locally, married with one daughter, Iris and her family enjoys camping up and down the state of California.

Rosiy

Rosiy is the office Optical tech assistant and has been a member of Dr. Bales' staff since 2007. She enjoys helping patients select and adjust their glasses.

When not working, Rosiy keeps very busy with her four daughters and their hectic sports activities.

Nelly

Nelly is the newest member of Dr. Bales team

She enjoys Dancing and was a member of the Lompoc High School Dance Team where she graduated in 2008. She is enjoying her work and is learning a lot from her co-workers. Nelly is happy to assist you with scheduling appointments, performing GDX testing, and answering any questions you may have.
